Cows in the mountains

Hi there! My name is Raine O'Brien, and being from Texas, I grew up around many people who were apart of the beef and agriculture industries. As a kid, I was never aware of the negative impacts it had on the environment, and as I got older I realized the consequences of this business and felt compelled to make a change. If you're reading this, I invite you to join me on this journey of researching and discovering different methods that those in the beef industry can implement in order to decrease its negative impact on the environment.

About Me!

My Story

As I mentioned above, I was born and raised in Amarillo, TX until I moved to Santa Barbara in the fall of 2020 to attend UCSB. In furthering my education on the west coast, my eyes were opened to the large scale methane emissions that cattle produce and exude into the environment. I was shocked to learn that the main business profession that I had grown up around was harming our Earth at an alarming rate. Since this discovery, I have devoted countless hours looking into certain ways to reduce its effect, such as putting lab-grown seaweed into cattle feed which can          reduce methane emission rates by 90%. In addition to this, there are many other methods, such as manure aeration and anaerobic digesters. I am incredibly passionate about sharing the information I have discovered along the way in order to give hope to others in my generation who are scared for our future and for the future of others
